Grant Writing Skills Training

The Roosevelt International Development Center is looking for students who want to learn grant writing related skills to apply for grants for a community based organization in Uganda. Students will learn how to screen potential grants, identify matches, write letters of interests, and full grant requests. They will work with a professional grant writer and receive advice from School of Management students and World Fellows. Please email joan.gass@yale.edu for more information.

Tim Mercer is a graduate from Yale’s School of Public Health and co-

founded the Tumaini Children’s Center for street children in Eldoret, Kenya.

Lonnie Embleton is a MPH student at the University of Toronto and

developed the substance abuse rehabilitation program at the center.

The Tumaini Children’s Center is a comprehensive delivery and access

center for street children, providing the kids with a place to rest, receive health

screenings, wound care, informal education, and vocational training.

Join a team of Yale students to create sustainable ecotourism in coastal Ecuador.  Learn about NGO work and sustainable development.

  • Plant three community gardens; teach English and Environmental Education classes; organize a beach clean-up day; create a visitor’s center; and market Puerto Cayo by creating a website with student testimonials.
  • Meet with five NGOs and governmental organizations in Quito and Puerto Rico, Ecuador.
  • Celebrate New Year’s with other international tourists in Montañita, a hip surfer town.
  • Fashion a five-year vision to further Puerto Cayo’s development, implementing strategic English instruction, marketing, and sustainability projects.

As part of the Yale Global Health Initiative, sophomores and juniors with a demonstrated interest and commitment to addressing pressing global health challenges may apply to become Global Health Fellows through the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs. As Global Health Fellows, students prepare for careers in global health by developing expertise and competence through coursework, participation in events on Yales campus, and a global health experience in the field, whether in the U.S. or abroad.  Fellows complete an interdisciplinary course of study, research, and practice that address fundamental and applied economic, political, social, cultural, biologic, and scientific issues relevant to global health.
