Summer Internship Available with AID India

AID India is looking for an intern or two to help out in the next few months. If you or the Aid Chapter knows of anyone in Chennai that would be interested, or anyone coming for holidays, please forward this to them.
The aim of this project is to provide innovative, creative and culturally relevant bilingual multi-media educational resources to aid English language learning in Tamil-medium schools. The initial objective of this project is to complete a set of modules for the basic English language DVD series, a language learning resource that will be used as part of Aid India’s English curriculum, which will provide interactive linguistic reinforcement by encouraging students to practice speaking, listening, reading and singing in English. The DVD will incorporate multiple learning styles and will be comprised of stories, songs, animation, and dialogue skits. It will be based in a phonetic approach to reading and a conversational approach to speaking. The intern will be involved in multiple aspects of this project throughout the pre-production, production and post-production stages.

• Experience with direction, lighting, sound, and scripting.
• Experience using film-editing and animation software.
• Experience using Adobe Photoshop and/or Corel Draw.
• Experience working with primary age school children.
• Must be willing to travel in and around Chennai.
• Must be fluent in Tamil and English.
• Music ability is a plus, but not required.
• Must be available from May-July 2010

The objective of Aid India’s Eureka Child education initiative is to provide quality education to all children throughout Tamil Nadu by developing, testing and implementing effective learning methodology and materials. Aid India, was founded in 1996 by a group of IIT and BITS (Pilani) alumni, headed by Dr. Balaji Sampath, a leading education activist.
